An unsealed affidavit written by an FBI agent states a rabbi in Mobile was among the handful of faith leaders and others a Choctaw County man allegedly harassed with antisemitic messages and threats of violence.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Jeremy Wayne Shoemaker was arrested by FBI agents, deputies from the sheriffs’ offices of Clarke and Choctaw counties, and officers from a handful of western Alabama police departments at his Needham residence in connection to “credible threats of violence made against multiple synagogues throughout Alabama and surrounding states,” according to a Facebook post by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.
