SAN FRANCISCO -- This has been one of the busiest months of Tony Vitello's life, but as he prepared to be introduced as the manager of the Giants , he took some time to cheer on one of his closest friends.
That man, Max Scherzer, happens to be a future Hall-of-Famer who is chasing a ring, which led Vitello to travel to Toronto last week for Game 1 of the World Series and then to Los Angeles on Monday for Game 3, which was started by Scherzer, who was recruited to Missouri by Vitello more than two decades ago.
"If I seemed exhausted at all ... we were there for every inning," Vitello said Thursday, laughing.
Vitello watched closely as the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers went 18 innings , and while Scherzer was the focus on Monday, you can bet the guys on the other side got
