PLANO, Texas (WFLA) — The Plano Police Department said it responded to a call at a Spirit Halloween store where a pet monkey was loose in the rafters.

When officers arrived, they observed a small brown monkey wearing a diaper hanging from the ceiling, PPD said.

Body camera video showed the monkey swinging around the store, as shoppers stopped to stare in wonder at the uncommon sight.

"It appeared the monkey was enjoying itself swinging around and was not an immediate danger to himself or others," PPD said in a press release.

According to PPD, the owner recovered the monkey with a small cookie before leaving the store.

Officers said they explained to the owner to put a leash on the monkey to prevent reoccurrences of the unusual situation.
