MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile County corrections officer was stabbed in the chest by an inmate with what officials call a "shank."
A Mobile County Sheriff's Office news release said Officer Tyler Simms was stabbed in the chest by 31-year-old Jeremiah Jackson while Simms was serving breakfast trays.
Officials said Simms' injuries were non-life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital but has since been released.
Jackson is in jail on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and failure to obey. Officials said more charges are coming.
