BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - Halloween is a favorite holiday for many kids, but for some, spending it in the hospital, trick-or-treating just isn’t possible. So, Sanford Children’s Hospital brought Halloween to them.
Staff members traded their scrubs for costumes and went room to room, handing out small surprises to young patients. They call it “Backwards Halloween.” Instead of children going door to door for treats, the hospital staff do the visiting, bringing the fun right to each bedside.
For many families, it meant more than just candy.
“Halloween is one of those holidays that I think a lot of kids look forward to, and it’s fun to dress up and hang out with their friends and things,” said Melissa Schmautz, Sanford staff. “And if they’re not feeling well or if they’re in the hospital or a
