COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting in the Short North last month.
The Columbus Division of Police said a warrant was filed for the arrest of Deswquan Woods-Fafahana on Monday. He was arrested without incident on Friday.
On Sept. 21, officers were called to the 1100 block of North High Street around 2:45 a.m. on a report of a fight. As officers arrived at the scene, they heard gunshots.
Officers found 25-year-old J'Vontia Cassell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. He was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead just after 5 a.m.
A second person was treated at the scene for an unrelated medical condition.
