BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — On the final day of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the family of Amanda Thompson, a Buffalo woman who was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, is speaking out in support of a bill they say will help protect survivors.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says 49-year-old Rickey Crouch shot and killed Thompson at her home in the early morning hours of July 17, 2025.
Muril Hadden, Thompson's mother, appeared alongside Senator Rob Ortt and Buffalo's Republican mayoral hopeful James Gardner on Friday to show support for a new bill. The bill would repeal a law allowing the parole board to discharge a parolee who has been on unrevoked community supervision for at least three consecutive years.
