When it comes to the 2025 World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t the only ones going head-to-head. The Toronto Public Library (TPL) and Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) have joined the action in a friendly book spine poetry battle that’s captured the hearts of readers and baseball fans alike.
The trend isn’t new, but it is having a moment. As Keith Kesler, social media librarian at the LAPL and life-long Dodgers fan, explains, “Libraries have been doing book spine poetry for sports going on a decade, so it's a bit of a tradition in the postseason. The Dodgers have been in the mix a good number of years, and we've always participated and challenged other libraries.”
