SPRINGHILL, La. – The town of Cullen is temporarily without its maintenance truck after it was towed Friday morning for not being insured.
Additionally, the employee who was driving was cited for operating a vehicle without insurance.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said the state law requiring vehicles to be insured covers individuals as well as publicly-owned vehicles.
Lynd was aware of a town meeting Monday night where Cullen Mayor Terry Hoof was questioned about insurance on the town’s vehicles. Hoof told citizens he was expecting coverage to be reinstated this week.
So, when Lynd saw pickup truck with a Cullen emblem being driven northbound on U.S. Highway 371 this morning, he watched as the driver pulled into the Subway in Springhill. Lynd said he pulled up behind the truck and
