BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - A recently disclosed engineering study is providing fodder for both sides of a debate over the future of a rundown house in downtown Binghamton.
42 Fayette Street was one of two dozen properties the city purchased from Isaac Anzaroot as part of a deal in 2023 to get the notorious slumlord to agree to leave the city.
Due to the substandard conditions of the dwelling, the city issued an eviction notice to the tenants with the intention of demolishing it.
Mark Yonaty, owner of the neighboring property that houses the VA Clinic, submitted an offer in which he would tear down the structure and expand his parking lot.
But tenant Paul Sidorsky objected, saying he had invested his own money in the house and refused to leave.
Members of City Council then rallied
