WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita church gave back to the community on Friday as SNAP benefits potentially run out Saturday.
Progressive Missionary Baptist Church held its monthly mobile food pantry at 1 p.m., where they estimated around 175 cars would come through to receive goods supplied by the Kansas Food Bank.
The church expects to see this number rise in the coming months with the potential suspension of SNAP benefits.
“The need in this community is growing by leaps and bounds, cause we’re in a food desert, and people are constantly needing help,” said Roosevelt DeShazer, the pastor at the church.
The mobile food pantry is held on the last Friday of every month at 2727 E. 25th St. N in Wichita. Guests sign in with basic household information and the food is distributed in a drive-
