The Montana Public Service Commission elected a new president Tuesday afternoon after a group of commissioners ousted the former one.
Commissioner Jeff Welborn, a Republican from Dillon, will now serve as the commission president. He was elected in a 3-2 vote with Commissioners Brad Molnar and Randy Pinocci voting against his nomination.
Molnar served as president of the commission from January, shortly after he took office, until earlier this month. Molnar was voted out by Welborn and Commissioners Annie Bukacek and Jennifer Fielder.
The Public Service Commission (PSC), which is made up of five Republicans elected by district, regulates private natural gas, electric and telephone companies, among others, and is also tasked with ensuring that Montanans receive reasonable rates for those
