LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is dead after police say they were struck and killed by a car while fleeing the scene of an accident Friday morning on a Louisville interstate.
At about 2 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to an accident on I-64 East near I-65, according to an LMPD news release.
Investigators believe the driver of a Hyundai Sante Fe rear-ended a Land Rover at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Hyundai reportedly exited their vehicle and fled the scene on foot before they were struck by a passing vehicle on I-64 Westbound.
The driver of the Hyundai that attempted to flee the scene was pronounced dead, authorities say. The driver of the Land Rover was uninjured.
