CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - The Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center is adding distribution events to their calendar in November and December as they see demand grow amid the government shutdown.
Nicholas Jenkins, community outreach director for the Chesterfield Food Bank, said they’ve seen their lines grow in the last couple of weeks.
“We’ve already seen these increases in our lines at our last two distributions,” Jenkins said. “Our last Saturday distribution saw almost double, over 100 and some additional people, reaching almost 300 clients served.”
Jenkins said the food bank typically sees 15,000 to 16,000 visits per month, but this number is now projected to rise close to 25,000.
