Partisan races that connect local candidates to a larger party's platform aren't anything new in campaigning. The current Washington state 26th District Senate race, for instance, features Republican and Democratic candidates who have been connected either to President Donald Trump or the state Dems' control of Olympia — and neither in a positive light.

But a recent mailer sent in a non-partisan Bremerton election is dripping with negative national partisan overtones that one candidate, and at least some voters, say crossed the line for a city vote.
