SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- On Oct. 27, Central New York entrepreneur and CEO of Acrovo AI, Jeff Knauss, decided he was not going to let a federal government shutdown stop hungry families from being fed.
Knauss launched a fundraiser on his website to raise money for people in need ahead of November.
He posted a Snap Relief Fund with a GoFundMe link, where people could donate money. That money was then used to fund $150 Wegmans gift cards, offered to people who submitted an application.
"We actually had 33,328 applications," Knauss said.
Nearly $200,000 has been raised so far, covering over 1,000 gift cards. But the need to feed has proven to be far too great.
