CHICAGO (WGN) — Some Chicago neighborhoods are creating safe trick-or-treating spaces amid Operation Midway Blitz, the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
“We are going to fight hate with love, and we’re going to show them how we love people here in Little Village,” said Baltazar Enriquez, President of the Little Village Community Council.
As thousands of trick-or-treaters head out from Little Village on the Southwest Side to Logan Square on the Northwest Side, residents and community groups are coming together to watch out for one another.
In Little Village, organizers prepared a Halloween event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with more than 200 volunteers from across the city and suburbs to ensure children can celebrate safely. The council arranged a walk along 26th Street from Sacram
