Starting November 1, Oklahoma drivers face tougher penalties under Senate Bill 54, a new law expanding what counts as an Aggravated DUI, even for first-time offenders.
The measure, authored by Senator Darrell Weaver (R-Moore), broadens the definition of aggravated driving under the influence to include several dangerous behaviors, from speeding through school zones to having a child in the car while impaired.
“With this new law in place, those who endanger lives will be held accountable,” Weaver said. “By broadening what is classified as Aggravated DUI, we are protecting Oklahoma families, children, and everyone who shares our roads.”
