HOUSTON – When the government shutdown left one Houston TSA employee unable to pay rent, he faced an uncertain future — packing his belongings and preparing to move into a shelter.

But after KPRC 2 shared his story, everything changed.

Thanks to an outpouring of generosity from our viewers, and the support of a local legal aid organization, “Jo” — who asked that we use only his first name for fear of retaliation when he had no legal representation — is no longer facing eviction.

Community Steps Up

Within hours of KPRC 2’s story airing, more than 20 viewers reached out, offering to help Jo avoid homelessness.
