PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Firefighter recruits from all over Illinois are marking the start of their journey into the workforce.

16 firefighter recruits graduated from the Vernon A. Gudat Training Academy.

The graduation was put on by the Peoria Fire Department at the Gateway Building in Peoria on Friday, Oct. 31.

Each graduate spent the last 12 weeks training and will start working locally as probationary firefighters.
