TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa residents frustrated with TECO rate hikes are planning to protest Saturday morning.

According to a release from U.S. Rep Kathy Castor, D-Florida, a "Burn the Bill Rally" has been planned at the Dr. Walter Smith Library & Museum at 10 a.m.

There, local leaders will speak against TECO increasing its prices, which were said to be some of the highest in the United States.

"This year, TECO’s 830,000 Florida customers have faced some of the nation’s highest electricity rates following two consecutive rate hikes in January and March," the release stated. "The rate hikes have left customers scrambling to afford the additional $29 to $38 per month needed to keep the lights on."
