New York City was hit hard with record-breaking torrential rain on Thursday, October 30. The National Weather Service reports one inch of rain fell in under 10 minutes, with a total of 1.80 inches falling in Central Park and 1.97 inches at LaGuardia Airport. Two men were sadly killed by the flooding. One of the victims, a 43-year-old man, was electrocuted while attempting to pump out his basement in Washington Heights. The other victim, a 39-year-old man, was reportedly killed while attempting to rescue his pet in a flooded Flatbush basement.
