WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — When Latasha Wilson moved into her first home in Winston-Salem, she expected peaceful nights and the pride of home ownership.
“I was the first one to move in to the house — it’s very quiet — peaceful,” she recalled.
A few months later, though, her peace and quiet became disruptive.
“I had (my fence) up for a week, they came and started tagging it…” she said, referring to the initial graffiti on her fence.
“I cleaned it up — within 24 hours it was back again.”
The vandalism escalated: “This time the graffiti much worse… the tagging bigger… the area wider… more paint and more of a mess,” she added.
As a teacher who works hard, Wilson says she feels unfairly caught in a losing battle.
“It sucks, it does,” she admitted.
