LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The historic Gold’s Building has reopened as the Hampton Inn Lincoln Downtown, marking a new chapter for the 100-year-old structure at 11th and O streets.

The hotel opened its doors in early October with 103 rooms available and another 12 on the way. The building will turn 101 years old on Nov. 16.

The opening coincided with the height of Husker football season, creating immediate demand for the new accommodations.

“We were almost sold out,” said Carrie Kubesa, general manager of Hampton Inn Lincoln Downtown. “Everybody really loves hearing about the history of the building and what we’ve done to save the building and excited that it’s the first Hampton inn to be used as a historic remodel in the country.”
