MOSS BLUFF, La. (KPLC) - Residents in Moss Bluff say a foul smell and mysterious runoff have returned to a gully that feeds into the Calcasieu River, and they’re tired of waiting for answers.
For the third year in a row, people living along South Perkins Ferry Road say the odor and discolored water have made life unbearable.
“And this is year three. It’s the pollution and the smell. And we can’t stand it in our yards or in our houses. And we’ve got to live here,” said resident Barry Tate.
Tate lives less than 100 yards from the gully and says the stench can be overwhelming.
“It smells like death. It makes us sick,” he said back in 2023.
He told 7News he’s filed complaint after complaint with every agency he can think of, but says nothing has changed.
