The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is investigating the death of a kayaker in Cheatham County.
Robert Jarillo, 21, of Tomball, Texas, was kayaking around 1:45 p.m. Oct. 30 with his brother on Cheatham Lake when he went out of sight and his kayak was found overturned, an Oct. 31 release from TWRA said.
Investigators responded to the lake and found Jarillo at 4:10 p.m. His body was recovered at 4:23 p.m. by agents and he was pronounced dead by the medical examiner.
The TWRA release said Jarillo was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time the kayak capsized. He is believed to have drowned.
Jarillo's death is the 25th boating-related fatality on Tennessee waters in 2025, the TWRA said.
