WEST CONCORD, Minn. — A local farm is stepping up to help families in need as WIC and SNAP benefits face delays due to the ongoing government shutdown. Gochnauer Farms in West Concord has transformed its store to offer free food to those struggling to make ends meet.
Megan Gochnauer, co-owner of the farm, explained that they are providing farm-to-table meal kits, similar to those offered by companies like HelloFresh, but completely free. "Nobody deserves to wonder where their next meal is coming from," Gochnauer said.
The store, located at 315 East First Street, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It operates on a self-service basis, allowing individuals to take what they need without payment or proof of need. The farm's message is clear: "No proof, no pay, no questions."
