TORONTO

The Dodgers’ dynasty-in-the-making was on the ropes headed into Friday night’s Game 6 at Rogers Centre.

All season, the defending champions had successfully carried the weight of the MLB crown through a rash of pitching injuries that would have scuttled most teams’ hopes for a repeat title. Not to mention the pressure of validating their $395 million price tag, nearly $50 million more than what Steve Cohen spent on the Mets, the next-closest club.

Come October, however, those same expectations snowball with each subsequent playoff round. And by the time a club reaches the later stages of the World Series, that burden has grown to monstrous proportions, as it no doubt did as L.A. tried to stave off elimination on Halloween.
