Destrehan running back Malachi Dabney has over 1,000 yards this season and delivered another strong rushing performance on Friday against district rival Hahnville.
A junior, Dabney led the way for Destrehan with 242 yards on 26 carries and scored all seven touchdowns for the Wildcats in a 49-28 win over Hahnville on Halloween night at Hahnville. Four of his touchdowns came in the second half, including a 72-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Dabney’s performance was complemented by Destrehan’s defense, which had two interceptions in Hahnville territory that led to Wildcats touchdowns.
“It was certainly a team effort,” Destrehan coach Marcus Scott said. “I didn’t realize (Dabney) had that stat line. Credit to him for a great individual effort, but a lot of other guys did their job
