The Easton Area High School football team ’s 900th victory placed the Red Rovers two wins away from a district championship.
Top-seeded and unbeaten Easton dispatched eighth-seeded Emmaus 28-7 on Friday night in the District 11 Class 6A quarterfinals at Cottingham Stadium.
Turning point : Easton wideout Sean McPeek snagged a 50/50 ball from quarterback Cole Ordway in the end zone with 24 seconds remaining in the first half. Noah Borluca’s extra point gave the Red Rovers a 14-0 lead at the break.
The hosts then took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched 80 yards on 11 running plays, draining 6 minutes and 58 seconds off the clock. Tailback Trevon Tyler capped the series with a nifty 28-yard scoring dash, and Easton pulled away with a 21-0 advantage.
