CHARLESTON — The number of West Virginians who say they are caregivers has increased by more than 125,000 over the past few years, according to a data analysis by AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving.

About 375,000 West Virginians — more than a quarter of adults in the state — are providing care for a family member or friend or have cared for someone in the past year, according to state specific data from “Caregiving in the United States 2025.” The report is based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
