Later today in Columbus, Penn State will become the fifth Big Ten team to take its best shot at the No. 1 team in the nation.

Forget beating them, it has not been easy staying close to Ryan Day’s 7-0 Buckeyes.

It’s the Nittany Lions’ turn.

Here are a few of my late-week thoughts on Penn State-Ohio State.

PSU’s extended offensive misery vs. OSU. The Lions (3-4, 0-4) have scored one offensive touchdown in their last eight quarters vs. the Buckeyes.

PSU lost 20-12 to Ohio State at Columbus in 2023, scoring a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Last year? The Lions’ lone TD in a 20-13 loss to the Buckeyes at Beaver Stadium was defensive back Zion Tracy’s interception return for a score.

Ohio State has permitted just 41 points in seven games.
