The Democracy Task Force of Public Interest Alberta (PIA) is holding townhalls next week to discuss the Alberta government’s proposals to pull out of the Canada Pension Plan.
Alberta has been part of the CPP for almost six decades and PIA believes to withdraw could jeopardize retirement security, increase costs and politicize an independent national program.
The town halls are expected to provide info about what leaving the CPP could mean for Albertan’s retirement security, highlight the risks of a separate pension plan and outline ways community members can speak out and stay informed.
