Most Canadian sports fans are making plans to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays tonight in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Whatever happens tonight, there is no debating the impact that “Canada’s team” has had on the world of sports during their latest run. There are so many great “remember when” stories being told by people who recall with great fondness where they were when the Jays won their last title that I thought I would share mine.
It was Oct. 23, 1993 and I was attending the International Sports Heritage Association conference in Green Bay, Wis. As one of only a handful of Canadians attending the event among a large number of delegates representing sports museums and halls of fame from across the United States, I felt it was my national duty to cheer on
