For the past few weeks, West Covehead's Sherry Mermuys has been watching the Toronto Blue Jays' playoff games with her son and daughter-in-law.
The family was playing cards prior to Game 5 of the World Series in Los Angeles when she received a video call from her daughter in Ottawa.
If the World Series went to Game 7 in Toronto, Mermuys had a ticket.
"I was just flabbergasted,” Mermuys said. “The first thing out of my mouth was, 'No way, no way.' I couldn't believe it. I was just shocked."
