STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - A 74-year-old North Ridgeville man was charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting and killing a 49-year-old woman in Strongsville on Friday evening.
According to a release from the Strongsville Police Department, at around 8:06 p.m., officers responded to the 22400 block of Rock Creek Circle for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds and a man holding a handgun.
Officers told the man, later identified as 74-year-old Gene Tomcho, of North Ridgeville, to put the gun down.
Tomcho then turned the gun on himself, police said.
Strongsville Fire-Medics took both of them to the hospital.
The woman was pronounced dead hours later at Metro General Hospital, police said.
