RICHMOND, Va. — Democrat Abigail Spanberger holds an edge over Republican opponent Winsome Earle-Sears in the Virginia gubernatorial race, according to a new poll released just before early voting ends in the Commonwealth.
Virginia's Election Day arrives in the midst of a fraught political climate nationwide. Other hotly contested high profile races in New York City and New Jersey will also be decided.
According to the poll released by Atlas, poll respondents said they would vote for Spanberger over Earle-Sears at a rate of 53.9 percent to 45.2 percent.
On Saturday, former President Barack Obama stumped for the former congresswoman in Norfolk.
In the attorney general race, Republican Jason Miyares (48.1 percent) outpaced Democrat Jay Jones (46.6 percent).
