G ilbert residents have continued to voice their concerns with the town’s suddenly rising water bills, packing council chambers for the second time last month.

But the town also is responding more aggressively, setting three listening sessions and detailing how a third-party audit will be conducted.

In a council meeting last week, some citizens said that their bills have been increasing for months before the new utility bill portal was rolled out, criticizing the yearly water rate hikes the town has been implementing.

Others questioned the council on whether the town had done their due diligence in selecting a proper vendor for their advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) radios that are fitted onto water meters for more accurate usage readings.
