Echo Park— A line of police on horseback and riot gear confronted a large and boisterous crowd of Dodger fans tonight as they celebrated the team's back-to-back World Series victory.
The Los Angeles Police Department went on Tactical Alert about 6 p.m. in preparation for celebrations that might ensue and shut down streets in the area in hopes of keeping crowds under control. L.A. Metro detoured buses around the LA Live area and ride-share vehicles that have been targets of vandals in the past were kept away.
When the crowds grew, the LAPD issued dispersal orders at Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue in Echo Park and at Chick Hearn Court and 11th Street in Downtown Los Angeles, telling people to leave or be subject to arrest.
