Chandler Councilman OD Harris is scheduled to face two charges related to campaign signs in a Dec. 3 trial in Maricopa County Justice Court.

He has been charged with altering, defacing, or removing a political sign and criminal damage, defacing property. Both are Class 2 misdemeanors. If found guilty, the maximum penalty would be up to four months in jail, up to $750 fine (plus surcharges that could nearly double that) and up to two years of probation for each count.

Most first-time offenders get softer sentences, usually community service and/or fines.

Harris declined to comment, referring questions to his attorney, Kenneth Countryman.
