Oct 19, 2025; Arlington, Texas, USA; Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) passes the ball against the Dallas Cowboys during the first quarter of the game at AT&T Stadium.

The Washington Commanders' 2025 season has been marred by injuries throughout the first two months.

The Commanders have played without multiple key contributors at times, including star wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. However, no injury has had more impact than quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The second-year signal-caller missed the team's Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on "Monday Night Football" due to a hamstring injury and missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee injury.

Could the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year be sidelined for a fourth game when Washington hosts the Seattle Seahawks (4-1) on "Sunday Night Football"?

Washington comes into Week 9 with a 3-5 record, good for third in the NFC East. They are battling to stay in the NFC playoff picture. Commanders fans are hopeful their star quarterback will be under center, and we have learned his status for today's game.

Here's the latest on Daniels before today's kickoff against the Seahawks.

Jayden Daniels injury update

The Commanders announced their starting quarterback will return to action for today's game.

Daniels has been listed as a full participant in the lead-up to the "Sunday Night Football" game against the Seahawks

Veteran backup Marcus Mariota started in the three games in which Daniels was injured, but will be relegated to backup duties again. He led Washington to a 1-2 record in those three starts.

No NFC East team has won back-to-back division titles since the Philadelphia Eagles won four in a row from 2001 to 2004. The door is still open for Washington to make a push for the division crown as they regain health in the second half of the season. Although the Commanders' upcoming schedule could dictate where they finish, as they play the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings in three of their next four games following today's matchup with the Seahawks.

Commanders QB depth chart

Washington's offensive depth has been tested in 2025. Here's a look at how the quarterback room breaks down:

  • Jayden Daniels
  • Marcus Mariota
  • Josh Johnson

The Commanders have a pair of veteran signal-callers behind Daniels on the depth chart. Mariota, a former No. 2 overall pick, and Johnson, who is well-traveled around the league, playing with seven different teams.
