CUSHING, Iowa - A northeast Iowa driver is seriously hurt after a two-vehicle collision in western Iowa.
It happened around 4:45 pm Saturday near the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and County Lane Road in Woodbury County. The Iowa State Patrol says a 2007 Freightliner semi and trailer driven by Dale Ralph Knaack, 71 of Correctionville, entered Highway 20 heading east and was struck from behind by a 2014 Ram 1500 driven by Nickolas William Klein, 41 of Cedar Falls.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged and came to rest on the south shoulder of the highway. The State Patrols says Klein was conscious and alert while speaking with EMS and was flown by helicopter to Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
