OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - Ole Miss handled its business Saturday night and avoid the “trap game” against South Carolina, securing a 30-14 win.
The win pushes their record to 8-1 and keeps their playoff hopes alive.
Ole Miss came out aggressive in this game, going for it on their first drive from South Carolina’s 36-yard-line, but a Trinidad Chambliss incompletion would turn the ball over on downs.
The Rebels defense then held the Gamecocks to a three-and-out and a punt, but Harrison Wallace III muffed the kick to give the ball back to South Carolina.
The Gamecocks took advantage this time, finding the end zone in just four plays thanks to a 1-yard LaNorris Sellers run to give them the early lead.
Ole Miss responded with a field goal after that to cut into the lead.
