But it doesn’t have to be that way -- says one St. Louis group and advocates nationwide -- you could use it as compost in your garden. Or, you can drop it off to a location that makes sure they take care of it correctly -- at no charge.
Landfills are not a great option, according to Earthday 365 in St. Louis . Literally billions of pumpkins are grown each year for sale around October, and they can take up space in landfills and add methane gas, according to experts who spoke to First Alert 4.
