Young trick-or-treaters discovered something mysterious and spooky, scary, and frightening at Fairbanks City Hall on Halloween.

It wasn’t the city budget process, but rather a schoolhouse of horrors as City Hall employees hosted the city’s annual Trick-or-Treat Halloween event on Friday.

Children were spooked throughout by several thematic stations as different departments set up their own displays. Chief of Staff Michael Sanders greeted families at the entrance and directed them toward the trail of treats.

Sanders was dressed as the DC superhero “Peacemaker” from the HBO series of the same name.

“It’s a funny show, he’s a funny character,” Sanders said of his costume choice. “And not many people might know him.”
