TPYC writes Union Minister Vaishnaw, Accuses railways of being used for drug smuggling in state, demands probe

Agartala, 2 nd November 2025 : In a strongly worded letter addressed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) has alleged that the Indian Railways network is being misused for large-scale transportation of narcotics and unpermitted cough syrups into Tripura.

The letter, signed by TPYC President Neel Kamal Saha, expresses deep concern over what the organization describes as a “statewide menace” that is pushing the youth of Tripura toward “destruction and decay.” The Congress youth wing claims that, instead of becoming a tool of development and connectivity, the railway system has “turned into a conduit for drug trafficking” with the alleged involvement of influential figures.
