LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Detroit Lions are set to host the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field to kick off a long day of football on Sunday. The Lions (5-2) are coming off a bye week and should have fresh legs after handing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their second loss of the season in week 7.

Safety Kerby Joseph, who missed the game against the Bucs with a knee injury, has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup.

The Vikings (3-4) have lost two games in a row and three of their last four. Second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy is expected to return to the field after spraining his ankle in September.

According to CBS Sports, backup quarterback Carson Wentz will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery following an injury he suffered on October 5.
