ANN ARBOR – Michigan’s football team is nine games into the 2025 season and is still searching for answers on special teams.
The 21 st -ranked Wolverines edged Purdue 21-16 Saturday to improve to 7-2 and 5-1 in the Big Ten, but they had another bumpy showing on special teams.
Hudson Hollenbeck shanked a punt off the side of his foot in the first quarter and also had a punt blocked in the third quarter as a Purdue defender came barreling up the middle to get a hand on it.
Meanwhile, Michigan didn’t generate anything in the return game.
Junior receiver Semaj Morgan let one punt roll by him that ate away field position, and the one punt he returned went for minus-2 yards. The Wolverines rank No. 133 out of 136 FBS teams, averaging 1.92 yards per punt return.
