The Pune unit of the state Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested a police officer attached to the economic offences wing (EOW) of the Pimpri Chinchwad police for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore from a lawyer and accepting the first installment of Rs 46.5 lakh.
As per a press release issued by the ACB Sunday, the accused officer was identified as police sub inspector Pramod Ravindra Chintamani (35), a resident of Gangotri Park, Dighi Road in Bhosari.
The ACB took the action after receiving a complaint from the 48-year-old lawyer.
According to the ACB, an offence was registered against the lawyer’s client at the Bavdhan police station this year. The client’s father was also arrested in this offence, stated the press release.
