ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A minor was hospitalized after being shot Saturday night in Elizabeth City, according to police.
Officers with the Elizabeth City Police Department responded to a “shots fired” call around 8:04 p.m. in the 200 block of Ward Street. When they arrived, they found a minor suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police and other first responders provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The victim was first taken to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, then later transferred to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk. Authorities said the minor’s injuries are not life-threatening.
The incident remains under active investigation.
